Meet Bedford’s Youngest Mayor

In addition to taking on the responsibilities of Mayor, Dan is a 6th grade Teacher here in the Hurst, Euless, Bedford Independent School District (HEBISD). Whether it’s representing citizens at city hall or teaching our next generation, Dan has dedicated his time to serving our community.

Dan’s parents both worked hard to provide for him and his sister. His father worked as a bus driver for a regional transit authority assisting the county’s vehicularly-challenged population. His Mother worked as a small business owner, owning and operating her own maid service business. Together they instilled in Dan the values he still holds today such as working hard, putting family first, giving back to your community, and treating everyone with respect.

After spending years as renters in Bedford, Dan and his wife, Sneha, decided to put down their roots here because of the tight-knit community and the centralized location.

Dan decided to volunteer his time on the City Council because he was frustrated seeing the residents’ voices being ignored by prior leadership and seeing surrounding cities progress while Bedford struggled to find its own identity.

“This is the city I’m raising my family in and I want to make it the best it can be, and secure its future for all our families” - Dan Cogan

Dan knocked on over 4000+ doors to hear about the residents’ concerns over the course of the last 6 years and has since vowed to provide a voice to all in our community. Since his first election, Dan has worked hard to give Bedford a fresh start. From revitalizing the Bedford Boys Ranch (Generations Park) to investing our infrastructure and bringing new businesses to Bedford. Our city has gone through a transformation. As your Mayor, Dan has made a promise to Never Go Back to the decisions of the past that kept us behind.

"We will continue to invest in our roads and infrastructure and take pride in our city by cleaning up our neighborhoods and shopping centers. We will focus our efforts on revitalizing our city through economic development and support our first responders making sure they have the resources necessary to keep our families safe. We will continue to Keep Bedford Moving Forward, Together.” - Mayor Cogan (October 10, 2023)
